Issue 161 is the one hundred and sixty-first edition of Sonic the Comic. Released on 28th July 1999 at the price of £1.30, the issue contains one new story and three reprints, as well as a free gift of four Star Wars stickers.

Sonic the Hedgehog
Space Race is a 2-part story by Lew Stringer, Richard Elson and Elitta Fell. Skorrg has chosen Sonic to take part in a space race and he and Amy Rose are beamed up against their will. On Skorrg's ship, it's impossible to resist and Sonic is thrust into a race with Turbo. Sonic loses, but Amy has taken control of Skorrg's ship. Unfortunately, rules state that the loser's ship gets destroyed by the winners...
Features
The Graphic Zone had the theme of "Where On Earth?", with pictures of Sonic and friends portraying several Planet Earth stereotypes. The prize was a Sonic the Hedgehog watch.
