Issue 148 is the one hundred and forty-eighth edition of Sonic the Comic. Released on the 27th January 1999 at the price of £1.25, the issue contains three original stories (two of them new) and one reprint, as well as several features and a Knuckles the Echidna pin-up. It is notable as the only issue where the Sonic the Hedgehog story was not the first strip.

Tails
No More Heroes is a complete story written by Stringer, drawn by Mick McMahon and lettered by Tom Frame. After another successful patrol of Woodzone, Tails is banished from the area by the Woodzone Zone Leader. He returns after news of kidnappings, only to discover that the Zone is now home to a Badnik Processing Plant.
Sonic the Hedgehog
It's A Small World is a complete story by Lew Stringer, Nigel Dobbyn and Ellie de Ville. Sonic is visiting the Floating Island to talk to Porker Lewis about the malfunctioning Kintobor Computer when two items breach the island's forcefield. Sonic and Knuckles head off to fight the big Badnik, leaving Porker alone in the Emerald Chamber. As the heroes battle the chunky robot, Sonic realises it is a distraction and returns to find Grimer and Nack the Weasel. He is unable to stop them shrinking to the microscopic planet of Shanazar.
Super Sonic
Return of the Nightmare is a 3-part story by Nigel Kitching, with art by Roberto Corona and John M Burns, Elitta Fell providing the lettering. Ebony has managed to contain Super with the Globe of Enrokk but needs Pyjamas to perform a Mind Link and erase Super's recent memories. When the spell fails, Super is a pacifist again but is still being pursued by Sonic. The hedgehog tracks Super down but is thrown off by some magic from Ebony.

Graphic Zone entry by Thalia Evans.
The theme of this issue's Graphic Zone is "Super Sonic!", with all pictures containing the demon himself. Any printed picture won the Boomers responsible a Sonic the Hedgehog watch. This edition was notable for featuring a picture of Super Sonic and Super Metal Sonic by Thalia Evans, a future Hume.
